About
Hi! My name is Savannah Funk and welcome to sf blogs!
The reason I initially wanted to start a blog was to tell people my story with acne medication (which you can find below). I received the perfect opportunity to pursue that in my English Two class. We were starting a project called the "Passion Project." The objective was to create something based on your passion with the end goal of finding and pursuing what you love.
After setting up my blog, I realized I wanted to talk about more than just skin. I have a passion for teaching and thought this would be the perfect way to do that. On this website, you can find blogs about health & beauty (including skin), fashion, school, hobbies, lifestyle, travel, etc. I also am selling some of my art, photography, and other items under the "Online Store" tab as well showcasing more of my art, photography, and modeling which are not for sale (ALL COMING SOON).
If you have any questions, need advice, have a request for blogs, art, or photography, have any recommendations etc. and wish to reach out to me, you can find that under the "Contact Me" tab. You can also subscribe and visit my other social media accounts above.
Thanks for visiting & happy browsing! (:

My Story
My initial reason to start sf blogs was to share my complicated story with acne. If you do not want to read the whole story, here is the takeaway: Do not take minocycline or any of the medications from the tetracycline family. I would not recommend taking any oral acne medication. Be very cautious of what you put inside your body because there is a chance you could have a reaction.
It all started in sixth grade when my acne first developed. It wasn't much - just a pimple here and there because of new hormones kicking in (gotta love puberty).
Fast forward to eighth grade: my acne grew way worse (see right picture below- there are worse pictures!). This is when I began to see a dermatologist. He prescribed me with a few topical (creams) treatments and one oral (pill) treatment. The pill was called minocycline.
Fast forward another few months and my acne is cleared - hooray! But when I started developing abnormal symptoms, such as trouble breathing, joint pain, splotchy & bruised skin, etc., I knew something was wrong.
After almost a year of seeing a variety of different types of doctors and my symptoms growing worse (& more symptoms popping up), a rheumatologist told me that I was having a reaction to my acne medicine, making immune system attack my organs.
The medication was also preventing my ankle from healing from an injury in volleyball due to circulation issues, joint pain, etc. that the minocycline was causing. The injury ironically occurred shortly after I had started my medication and most likely caused weakness in my joints making the injury far worse than it should have been.
The rhuematologist told me that if I stopped taking my medication, my symptoms should go away in three to six months.
Although I am still recovering I am doing much better. You can see my blog about my current skincare routine in the "Blogs" tab under "Health & Beauty.” The two pictures below on the left are photos of my skin currently without any harmful drugs. Be careful about what you put into your body!
