5/18/2018 0 Comments Trip to MagnoliaChip & Joanna Gaines' Magnolia at the Silos is a popular site to visit in Waco, Texas. Pictures of this cute spot are all over Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, you name it. But what is Magnolia exactly? In 2015, Chip and Joanna Gaines from the Home & Garden Television’s (HGTV) Fixer Upper renovated and opened the Silos. Their idea was to offer a place for people to simply gather and enjoy the space that they are in. To sum it up, Magnolia is a giant hang out spot with lots of fun activities to choose from. The site perfect for people of all ages. Magnolia is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (bakery hours are different and can be found below). Parking is free and on the site. If the parking is full, there is other parking close by as well as the Silo District Trolley that is a convenient & fun alternative. For more information on the trolley, visit: https://magnolia.com/silo-district-trolley/ In my opinion, the best time to visit is during the fall. In Texas, fall weather is usually pretty comfortable. I recommend coming to Magnolia in the morning when it is less crowded and hot, but you will enjoy your stay any time of the day & year! When you walk in from the parking lot, you will see a line of food trucks on your left (left picture below). The food ranges from crepes to pizza to iced tea to even a juicery called Luna Juice (if you have seen the giant watermelons with the straws in them on social media, this is where they are from & one is pictured below in the middle). The food available changes from time to time, so check Magnolia's website (which can be found below) to see which food will be available when you go. In the middle of the Silos, you will catch sight of an open play area/lawn as well as plenty of seating areas (seating areas are pictured above and the lawn below). Here, you can play games with friends and family and get some sun. On your right, you will find Magnolia Market. Here you can purchase products, such as clothing and home improvement. The Silos Bakery, probably Magnolia's most popular attraction, is located towards the back right. A variety of sweet desserts, such as pies, cookies, and their famous cupcakes can be purchased here. Bakery items change usually seasonally, so I would recommend checking TripAdvisor around the time you are going to see what will be offered. If you’re a chocolate lover, I personally recommend the Chocolatier cupcake. A chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream frosting make for a delicious snack to treat yourself. On the side of the bakery, there is a seating area for you to enjoy your dessert. Be prepared to potentially wait in line for a period of time. My mom waited forty-five minutes to purchase our cupcakes, but it was definitely worth the wait! Just make sure you have some water to drink while you are in line. Near the bakery, there are displays that are perfect for taking pictures to remember your stay, but anywhere at Magnolia is great for that- the whole place is cute! The bakery is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The garden is located towards the back left. Here, friends and family can wander among the beautiful blooms and learn about gardening. The Magnolia Seed Supply in the garden sells unique and quirky gardening supplies perfect for your home. What’re you waiting for? Head down to Waco and enjoy a day at the Silos!
